Many of us have always been fascinated by Vedic astrology and its accuracy in terms of predicting the occurrence of events in an individual’s life. Those of us who have consulted an astrologer also know that we need to provide the astrologer with the place, date and time of birth. But what if we did not know the correct time of birth or even the date? Sometimes, it is just not possible for parents to keep track of these. That is where the beauty of Vedic astrology comes to the fore. Vedic astrology in such a scenario makes use of Prashna Kundli or Prashnam.
In Hindi, ‘Prashna’ means Question and ‘Kundli’ means birth chart. So literally, the term prashna kundli means birth chart of a question. Prashna kundli is basically the rashi chart created based on the date & exact time of the day when the individual asks the question. Through the prashna kundali, one can know whether an event will occur or not.
A point to be noted here is that while the prashna kundli shows your ongoing karma, the janma kundli or your birth chart is the result of your past karmas.
Another equally important point is the fact that a new prashna kundli has to be cast every time a new question is asked as the ascendant or lagna may change by the time you received an answer for your first question.
How does it work?
Like the birth chart, the basis for the prashna kundli is the rashi chart that will be cast on the date and at the time the question was asked. This includes the ascendant and placement of the nine planets in various rashis. As in a birth chart, primary importance is given to the ascendant sign in a prashna kundli which represents the starting point in the chart. However, the representations of every house and zodiac sign are entirely different.
For example, the ascendant or lagna in a prashna kundli represents the person who asks the question. The seventh house represents the subject matter about which the question is asked. The analysis is done on the basis of the planet that the ascendant/lagna represents as well as the planet to which the question is connected and the association it is making with various houses.
Another important point with regards to prashna kundli is that it can throw some light on the reasons behind inner upheaval in an individual.
The zodiac sign in the ascendant house is the shadow of the questionnaire himself. The 7th house is also considered important in relation to the question. The nature of the question is derived from the planet in the ascendant house or from the planet aspecting the ascendant house.
While your horoscope or birth chart serves to indicate the path of happiness and sorrow in life, prashna kundli provides meaningful information about the possible outcome related to the question asked.
Using the prashna kundli one may ask any question varying from: –
- Will I marry a particular person whose name is “[Sample Name]”?
- I am looking for a job. When will I find one? Will I join Company “[Sample Company]”?
- When can I start my own business? In which field can I start my own business?
- I have lost some important document. Will I be able to find them?
- Will I travel abroad this year? Can I find a job in Country “[Sample Country Name]”?
- Will I live in a rented house or buy my own house?
